About Paragon

Night-time view of Paragon student accommodation

Paragon is an award-winning, purpose-built student hall of residence in Brentford, West London. Opened in September 2006, it is owned and managed by Touareg Trust. It is right next to Paragon House, which houses Thames Valley University's (TVU) new Health Sciences Faculty, and only 1.5 miles south of TVU’s St Mary's Road campus in Ealing.

Situated near Ealing and Kew, Paragon can house 839 students in 810 study bedrooms in cluster flats and 29 studio flats which are arranged around a large courtyard. The facilities include a common room, launderette and communal kitchens. Paragon contributes perfectly to the student experience offering students:

  • spacious, recently built, single ensuite accommodation in shared cluster flats
  • well-equipped shared kitchen/diners
  • broadband internet access
  • 24-hour security
  • wheelchair access.

Award-winning accommodation

Paragon’s student accommodation is part of a larger development that includes affordable homes for key workers and local people, academic facilities and retail space. It was designed by Carey Jones Architects and built in partnership with Berkeley First and TVU on a brownfield site that had been vacant for over 12 years.

All of the development was built on a modular system using innovative Modern Methods of Construction (MMC): Paragon’s striking 17-storey glass tower is the tallest building in the UK to be built this way. Units were constructed in a factory and then transported to the site by lorry, where they were lifted into position by crane and bolted together. Even the carpets, curtains, kitchens, bathrooms and bedroom furniture were installed in the factory! This modular approach cut site construction time by half, minimised disruption for the surrounding neighbourhood and reduced construction waste.

This brand new, state-of-the-art accommodation has already won two awards:

  • Best New Development, Affordable Homes Sector in the Evening Standard New Homes Awards 2007
  • Major Housing Project of the Year (2007) in the Building Magazine Awards 2007.
